Leading a 70+ person organization across payments, servicing systems, and customer experience (mobile + web) platforms, I drove modernization and digital transformation. Key initiatives included migrating six applications to AWS, containerizing services on EKS, and modernizing mobile/web platforms with React Native and GraphQL. Our efforts boosted digital adoption by 34%, reduced call volume by 12%, and significantly improved app ratings. Additionally, PCI DSS compliance efforts advanced under my leadership, while strengthened team culture helped position the company as a recognized Great Place to Work.
Scaling an enterprise shared services engineering team from 14 to 35 professionals, I built out leadership structures and implemented Agile transformation across the organization. Event-driven architecture practices, system design standards, and testing improvements became key focuses, enhancing throughput, delivery consistency, and overall quality ratings. Workflow automation and dispute resolution systems were introduced to improve efficiency, while culture-building initiatives strengthened engagement and team satisfaction in a fully remote environment.
Leading global development projects at General Motors, I served as technical lead for high-impact platforms including RoomFinder (700,000 annual interactions) and the Recovery Key mobile app, which reduced service desk interactions by 50% through secure OCR and AI/ML integration. Contributions spanned native mobile development (Android, iOS, Xamarin), proof-of-concept indoor location systems, and enterprise-scale search services supporting over 200,000 daily queries. Additionally, a cloud search strategy was architected leveraging Azure Cognitive Services, while AI/ML training programs were developed to accelerate organizational expertise in emerging technologies.
Coordinating a global team, I defined architecture and technical standards supporting enterprise devices and applications, presenting strategies directly to CIOs. Additionally, GM’s first enterprise mobile app was developed with secure ADAL integration, enabling broad employee access to enterprise services.
Researching and prototyping emerging technologies at GM, I created innovative solutions that gave business teams an early advantage in technology adoption. Notably, a hands-free, voice-interactive system was developed that reduced driver distraction and led to six patents, while a social group travel app was co-developed for GM’s next-generation radios, resulting in two additional patents. Innovation culture was also supported through hackathons and organizational engagement activities.
